Ben Dowdell had 14 points, eight rebounds and two assists as Santa Clara handled Iona 76-69 to win the third annual CollegeInsider.com tournament on Wednesday night.

Kevin Foster had 16 points and the Broncos placed five in double figures en route to the easy road victory over the Gaels. Santa Clara led 38-28 at the half, and outrebounded Iona 39-32.

Foster was named Tournament MVP and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by teammate Troy Payne and Marc Trasolini, Papa Dia (SMU), Mike Glover and Scott Machado (Iona) and Mike Smith (East Tennessee State).

Siena senior Ryan Rossiter won the 2011 MAAC Player of the Year award.

Joining Rossiter on the All-MAAC First Team was Rossiter, Mike Glober and Scott Machado (Iona), Derek Needham (Fairfield) and Justin Robinson (Rider).

Ryan Bacon and Wesley Jenkins (Saint Peter's), Ryan Olander (Fairfield), Anthony Nelson (Niagara) and Novar Gadson (Rider) were named to the All-MAAC Second Team.

Nelson was also named MAAC Defensive Player of the Year and Danny Stewart won MAAC Rookie of the Year.

Saint Peter's defeated Iona by a 62-57 final to win the 2011 MAAC Tournament.

Jeron Belin was named Tournament MVP, while teammates Wesley Jenkins, Nick Leon and Ryan Bacon joined him on the All-Tournament Team. Also making the All-Tournament Team were Mike Glover and Scott Machado of Iona.

Saint Peter's last won the tournament to earn an NCAA bid in 1995 and even went 6-24 in the 07-08 season.

St. Peter's defeated Iona 62-57 in the MAAC final on Monday night to secure their first NCAA Tournament bid in 16 years.

Jeron Belin scored 17 points to lead the Peacocks over the second-seeded Gaels.

St. Peter's coach John Dunne said his team likes to run, but after being blown out twice by Iona during the regular season, realized they had to slow things down to have a chance.

"As players, they have to believe in that," Dunne said. "If they were a different group, they might say, 'Hey, no, we can run with them.' You know, it's a pride thing. But these guys knew exactly what we needed to do to win."
